Birmingham Insurance Institute

The Birmingham Insurance Institute acts as local representation for the Chartered Insurance Institute. We are an open and welcoming group of volunteers, and if you feel that you would be able to help the Institute, or would just like to find out a bit more please contact the BII office on Birminghaminstitute@cii.co.uk. Our Institute has three main objectives:

1. Educational and Professional
We organise the CII examinations in spring and autumn and for successful candidates there is an award ceremony in November where diplomas, certificates and prizes are presented.
We hold lunchtime lectures throughout the year, on a wide range of subjects whether technical or relating to ‘soft skills’ which help meet your CPD requirements. We also offer breakfast seminars and half day workshops, which are CPD accredited.

2. Social
The largest formal events we hold are the Annual Dinner in March and the West Midlands Awards Lunch in October. In addition to this we hold a full programme of social and networking events, which are mainly organised by our Young Professionals Committee.

3. Charitable
We organise events specifically to raise money for charity; one of our biggest events is the charity fun run at Sutton Park in September which is organised by our Young Professionals Committee.

Getting Involved
We have a range of options for anyone who want to get involved. This includes being an ambassador for your office to promote our events, a member of one of our committees that concentrate on a specific aspect of our activities, or part of the Main Council who set the direction of the Institute. You may be looking to give something back to the community, gain another skill or looking to broaden your network.

We welcome people from any area of insurance or financial services and you don’t need to be a CII member or work in a technical role. We have insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, marketing professionals and solicitors to name a few from companies of all sizes.
