Birmingham is developing as one of the primary areas for regeneration and property development in the UK. Andrew Round, Birmingham City Council and Simon Dingle, Carillion will look at some of the major development schemes in the City.

Andrew Round, Birmingham City Council
Andrew is the Assistant Director for Planning & Development at Birmingham City Council, responsible for Planning & Regeneration in the City Centre & North Birmingham. Qualified as both a Town Planner & Chartered Surveyor, he was part of the team that developed the Big City Plan & leads on the development of Birmingham City Centre Enterprise Zone, which includes within its major projects such as the redevelopment of Paradise Circus.

Andrew has worked in both the Public & Private sectors and prior to joining the City Council in 2008 he was a Director at GVA Grimley’s Birmingham Office.

Simon Dingle, Carillion plc
Simon is an Operations Director for Carillion and has been responsible for its Birmingham projects since 2005. These have included projects for Unite, Aston University, The University of Birmingham, Birmingham City Council and Argent.

Simon was the Carillion Director responsible for the delivery of the multi-award winning Library of Birmingham and is now working on the Paradise Circus infrastructure, highways and enabling projects. Simon joined Carillion in 1987 and was previously responsible for the Carillion construction business in the South West, South Wales and Midlands – before taking a role focussed specifically on our Birmingham operations in 2005.

He has a Construction Degree and is a Fellow of RICS and CIOB.
