Internet of Things (IoT) is an exciting movement in the computing world but with the types of connectivity required for IoT projects, is it possible to teach beginners to programming the skills to be able to create their own hobbyist IoT projects? At the Mozilla Campus Club Birmingham, this is our aim. In this talk I hope to show how and why we use Node.js – a runtime environment for running javascript on servers and embedded devices – to quickly build IoT projects.

Presented by Dr Jonathan Watkins, Maple T.A. Development Manager, University of Birmingham.

Jon, an educational technology developer at UoB, has started up a Mozilla/node.js bootcamp open to all students (both computer science and across campus) on how to piece together different technologies like git, node.js, HTML5 etc.

Closing date for bookings is Monday 8 May 2017 at 11:59 pm. No more bookings will be taken after this date.

For overseas delegates who wish to attend the event please note that BCS do not issue invitation letters.
