BCS Birmingham Branch – Clinical Trials and IT

Share

Details:

Clinical Trials are an essential element of ensuring the safety and efficacy of new medicines. The regulatory requirements to demonstrate this have developed over the decades in response to the incidents with Ethylene glycol poisoning in the USA in the 1930’s and Thalidomide in the 1950s. The aspect of safety in what is sold in pharmacies has since become a significant issue.

This talk describes how the pharmaceutical industry has evolved, and especially how IT plays a role in the development of new pharmaceuticals products and how technology could revolutionise future Biopharmaceutical development.
