The Bank of England Economic Outlook

Share

AAT Birmingham Branch welcome Mr Graeme Chaplin of the Bank of England, who will be giving us a summary of the Bank’s latest economic outlook and its implications for monetary policy. Graeme will also be providing an overview of the role of the Bank of England and answering : how does the Bank achieve monetary and financial stability?

Graeme is the Bank’s Regional Agent for the West Midlands & Oxfordshire.

The role of the Bank’s regional Agencies is to act as information gatherers for the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) and Financial Policy Committee (FPC).   To this end, the Agents meet regularly with contacts from across the business community to assess the current state of the economic environment.  This information plays an important role in the policy decisions of the MPC and FPC.

Graeme joined the Bank in 1992.  He has undertaken a variety of roles in Threadneedle Street, including banking supervision, economic analysis and financial stability monitoring.  From 2001 to 2008 he was the Bank’s Deputy Agent for North West England.

The talk will be conducted at the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce which is just on Harborne Road heading out of the city near Five Ways. We have a pre networking get together, starting from say 6.15 or 6.30 where you can talk with other professionals and food and drink will be provided free of charge. The main talk starts at about 6.50 and will finish at approximately 8pm. The event is open to non AAT Members but we would appreciate an email to us so that we can get a good idea on numbers for adequate catering. Our email is Birmingham@aatbranch.org.uk
