Time: 6.30pm to 9.00pm

Venue: The REP, (The door stage), Broad Street, Birmingham, B1 2EP

Ticket price: £15

The Birmingham Law Society invites you to a one off performance of the human rights play ‘The Exonerated’ on the evening of the 6th February 2015. The play shows the failings of death row in the US and how innocent people have spent years on death row, before being Exonerated.

The cast includes Birmingham judges, solicitors and barristers who are giving up their time to bring this (rehearsed reading) play to Birmingham with all proceeds going to the Prince’s Trust. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased via the Birmingham Law Society Webpage:

The script was based on the exonerees’ personal experiences as well as court records and media accounts.

Jessica Blank, who is married to Erik Jensen, got the idea for the play when she moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to New York City. She and Jensen attended a conference about the death penalty and listened to stories about wrongful convictions and confessions gained via torture, threats and deception. The couple spent the summer of 2000 interviewing exonerees throughout the United States and adapted the stories of six people into a script.

Our special thanks go to production director Aimee Lees and actors:
Employment Judge Colin Goodier, Eileen Schofield (President, BLS), Mushtaq Khan (Vice president, BLS), Ann Houghton (Anthony Collins), Pattison Harrigan, James Bolton (DAC Beachcroft), Andre Hesson (Alan Sharman Agency), Denise Morris, Carla Vry (SGH Martineau), Sophie Garner (St Philips Chambers).

For further information see the flyer The Exonerated Play.
