The Criminal Law Update is a 6 monthly review of all criminal law developments. The sessions are designed to allow for the interaction much preferred by delegates to the interrupted watching of videos.

Course content:

The course will be presented by Anthony Edwards and will include;

·       The implementation of the Policing and Crime Act 2017

·       Criminal Finances Act 2017

·       Search warrants; criminal records

·       Criminal Procedure Rules and Practice Directions

·       Case management

·       Insanity; joint enterprise; dishonesty; psychoactive drugs

·       Road traffic developments

·       New sentencing guidelines including on all breach offences

·       Sexual Harm prevention Orders

·       Hearsay; Good character

·       All legal aid and costing Issues

The course meets the needs of  a training/development plan: ‘’To maintain an up to date knowledge of all developments in criminal law including statutory changes, investigations, procedure, youths, criminal law and road traffic, sentencing, evidence, costs and legal aid’’

It also meets the requirements of the LAA for duty solicitors and their representatives.
